Dr. Joshua Males

Modular Forms in Number Theory and Beyond

Since October 2023 I've been a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Bristol, back home in the UK.

I was a PIMS postdoctoral fellow, working under Siddarth Sankaran at the University of Manitoba, Canada, where I started in August 2021 and finished in July 2023. I obtained my Ph.D. under Kathrin Bringmann at the University of Cologne in Germany in May 2021, and prior to this I completed my masters with Jens Funke at Durham University, UK.

Here's an article for the PIMS postdoc seminar on my research and road to Canada.

I work mainly with (generalisations of) modular forms, their use in number theory and beyond. You can find more details in the research tab, and some of my files below. If you want to start a collaboration, feel free to drop me an email!

My favourite quote is one of von Neumman:

"In mathematics you don't understand things. You just get used to them."
